A Wonderful Evening!

We had the awesome opportunity to have the Pay family (the siblings of Sister Marjorie Hinckley) come to our home two nights ago for dinner. My mom had brought them down to St. George and they came to spend the evening with us. They were so delightful. They have all lost their spouse's. We enjoyed chatting with them over dinner and then we sat down in the family room and listened to stories about Marjorie, Gordon, and also their ancestors. They told us about their Grandmother, Mary Goble, who crossed the planes when she was 13 years old. They told us how she lost a two year old sister, a four year old brother, a 6 week old sister and then just a few days before entering the valley she lost her mother. Mary had to have her toes amputated because of frost bite. The doctor wanted to take both of her legs but because of her great faith, and a promise from Brigham Young, she was able to keep her legs. She went on to have 13 children, and her youngest was Sister Hinckley's daddy. They told us the amazing story of how they came in contact with a rancher and his wife who had found a grave marker in the middle of nowhere in Idaho. It is a long story with many miracles, but it is the grave marker of Mary Gobles baby sister who died when she was 6 weeks old, on the planes of Wyoming. They brought the 150 year old grave marker to show us. It was so touching to see this amazing grave marker and what it represented. They bore their testimonies, laughed, cried, and shared some wonderful experiences. Thanks mom for introducing them to us! The grave marker, it say's, "our baby, Edith Goble, born Sep.3, 1850, died nov. 4th, 1850". This sweet baby died from lack of nourishment.

From left to right, Evelyn, Joanne, Dorene, and Doug. Sister Hinckley was the oldest. Doug just loves Jessica. She went on a treck with them two years ago. He is so cute, he calls her and writes her letters. He was so excited to see her again.

That's really great! I always wonder how people do it (pioneers), but I guess when you get tried and tried and recieve blessing after blessing you start to see how God takes care of you and teaches you to trust! Tell the kids we love them! xoxo lou
